Woodland Wordplay

Oh no, our summer camping trip has taken a turn for the worse–the forest is up in flames and we don’t know which way to go! This isn’t your typical crossword puzzle… From left to right, top to bottom, can you figure out what these critters are saying?

Once you’ve filled out the crossword, please use (only) the words in the grid to answer the following questions:

What is the longest word that contains both a fire and an F (not necessarily in the same square)?
What is the longest word that both contains a flower and starts with a vowel (not necessarily in the same square)?
What is the shortest word whose last letter is in the same square as a fox?
What is the shortest word that contains a K in the same square as a rabbit?
What is the longest word that contains both a tree and an N (not necessarily in the same square)?
What is the longest word whose first letter is a vowel in the same square as a bear?
What is the shortest word that contains exactly three vowels, one of which is in the same square as a robin?

Finally, where in San Francisco can we be found cooling down after our forest fire adventure?
